Connecting Scrapbot

Scrapbot is the underlying engine that connects your chat events directly with your active visual overlays. Linking the bot ensures that user chat commands, alerts, and dynamic content render instantly on-screen.

1. Binding your Channels

Scrapbot supports multi-platform streaming, allowing you to link your Twitch and Kick accounts simultaneously:

Kick Authorization

Kick does not utilize OAuth logins for bots. To connect Scrapbot to your Kick chat:

  1. Go to the Scrapbot Settings page in the dashboard.
  2. Input your Kick Channel Username.
  3. Open your Kick Chat on kick.com and type /mod scrapbot to grant moderation privileges.
  4. Click Verify & Connect.
Twitch OAuth Binding

Click the Connect Twitch button in the integrations dashboard. This initiates a secure Twitch OAuth flow. Authorize Scraplet, and the bot will join your channel automatically. Remember to type /mod scrapbot in your Twitch chat to ensure it can post links, bypass spam blocks, and moderate events smoothly.

2. Testing the Connection

To verify that the bot is listening and active:

  • Open your Kick or Twitch creator channel chat.
  • Type !ping or !scrapbot.
  • Scrapbot should respond instantly: Pong! Scrapbot v1.0 active in this channel. 🤖

3. Managing Permissions

You can configure who has access to trigger overlay-bound commands inside your bot settings. This prevents chat spam from clogging your visual stream real estate:

Broadcaster Only
Only you (the stream owner) can trigger visual lower-thirds, sound commands, or alerts.
Moderator + Up
Both the broadcaster and verified chat moderators can run overlay controls.
Everyone
Open to anyone in chat (best for basic fun effects or text reactions with high cooldowns).

Next Step: Launch Your Overlay in OBS

Now that your overlay is designed and your chatbot is listening, let's load the layout into OBS as a high-performance Browser Source.
